Trust Decision Engine

A capability within Trust Infrastructure — not a final stage after the Trust Outcome, but a component that helps produce one.

The Trust Decision Engine evaluates the relevant inputs to a trust decision and contributes to producing a Trust Outcome. It sits inside Trust Infrastructure, alongside the other capabilities described in What Is Trust Infrastructure?, rather than as a separate step that comes after the outcome has already been produced.

Diagram showing Trust Assertions, Identity, Authority, Consent, Context, Policy and Evidence flowing into a Trust Decision Engine governed by policy and context, producing a Trust Outcome, an Approve/Allow, Reject/Deny, Escalate or Request Additional Evidence result, and an audit/decision record.

What it evaluates

  • Trust Assertions
  • Evidence
  • Policy
  • Context
  • Authority
  • Consent
  • Validity
  • Governance

What it can produce

  • Approved / permitted
  • Rejected / denied
  • Additional evidence required
  • Escalation required

Auditability

Decision records and audit evidence can form part of governance and accountability — a record of what was evaluated, against what policy, and what the result was, without that record itself becoming a new store of the underlying personal information.

This page describes the conceptual role of a Trust Decision Engine within Trust Infrastructure. It should not be read as a claim that Gwirio currently provides every function described above as production functionality.
